Standing Committees: Driving Change Together

Our committees are the heartbeat of the NAACP — where members come together to focus on issues that matter most: education, health, justice, and freedom. Join a committee today and help us build real solutions for our communities.

Committees are the working arms of our branch. Each of our committees channels the passion, skills, and leadership of our members into direct action, advocacy, and service. From fundraising to political action, from education to youth engagement, these committees ensure the NAACP mission is alive at every level.

1. Education Committee

Chairperson: Josephine Howard

The Education Committee, led by Josephine Howard, is dedicated to promoting equal access to quality education for all students. Under her leadership, the committee works to identify educational disparities, advocate for policy changes, and support programs that empower students to reach their highest potential.

From organizing scholarship opportunities to partnering with schools and community organizations, Mrs. Howard and her team strive to close achievement gaps, encourage parental involvement, and inspire lifelong learning within our communities.

Her commitment to education reflects the NAACP’s mission to ensure that every child, regardless of background, receives the support and resources they need to succeed.

2. Women In NAACP (WIN) Committee

Chairperson: Sharon Mathis

The Women In NAACP (WIN) Committee, chaired by Sharon Mathis, focuses on empowering, uplifting, and mobilizing women as change agents within the NAACP and the broader community.

Through educational programs, mentorship, health initiatives, and civic engagement, the WIN Committee under Ms. Mathis’ leadership works to strengthen families, support youth development, and promote social justice.

Her vision is to create opportunities for women to lead, serve, and make a lasting impact—continuing the NAACP’s proud legacy of advocacy, unity, and empowerment.
